Education

Broad-based education of Czech Academy of Sciences staff in the field of artificial intelligence is one of the core pillars of the AI HUB theme and a key element in promoting the adoption of AI approaches in research at CAS.

Our educational activities include both user-oriented courses and specialised trainings and workshops focused on specific technologies or various aspects of developing and applying AI/ML models.

An important dimension of our educational efforts is also community building — fostering a network of AI enthusiasts across institutes. As a side effect, this leads to the formation of a network of contact persons for further collaboration in the use of AI within CAS and for promoting awareness of our programme.

In the first half of 2025, our training events were attended by*more than 600 participants.

Courses Offered

  • Webinar series: [Using LLMs in Research Workflows with Michaela Liegertová](https://av21.ai/)
  • Half-day in-person course: [AI: The Researcher’s Assistant](https://av21.ai/)

Custom Courses and Demand Aggregation Across Institutes

In addition to the above-mentioned webinars and courses, we also offer customised courses based on the needs of CAS institute staff — regardless of whether their institute is directly involved in our programme. If you are interested in organising a webinar or course related to AI/ML, please contact us at vita@cs.cas.cz (Martin Víta).

We can also help facilitate courses or trainers from outside CAS (from universities, industry, or the non-profit sector). In such cases, we offer support in aggregating demand across institutes, which can enable the realisation of courses that would not be viable for a single institute due to low participant numbers. If you are interested, feel free to get in touch vita@cs.cas.cz (Martin Víta).

Mapping Training Needs in AI

Within the AI HUB, we are also actively mapping training needs and interest in AI/ML education. Following the successful webinar series Using LLMs in Research Workflows with Michaela Liegertová, we are conducting a survey in cooperation with the Institute of Psychology of CAS on the use of AI tools across the Academy.

The results of this research will be published at the end of 2025.

If you are an employee of any CAS institute, we would greatly appreciate it if you could complete the following [short questionnaire](https://av21.ai/) to help us better tailor our upcoming courses.
